What's in your boot? Why it matters more than you think
The boot of a municipal police patrol car goes through a lot. Transporting the dog, equipment for callouts, documents, chargers, the first-aid kit — it all ends up in there somehow. And usually not in any great order.
It isn't laziness or untidiness. It's simply the reality of fieldwork, where things are grabbed in a hurry, put away in a hurry, and there's no time for tidying.
But a chaotic boot has consequences. Things get damaged. The dog slides about under hard braking. The officer is hunting for equipment at the worst possible moment. And a car that's meant to serve for years starts to look — and work — accordingly.
The problem isn't discipline, it's the system
Most municipal police vehicles leave the factory with an empty boot. What goes into it, and how, is left to each force individually. The result is usually improvisation — bags, boxes from the DIY store, rubber mats.
Does it work? After a fashion. But "after a fashion" isn't good enough in an officer's work.
A good storage system isn't a luxury. It's the thing that determines how quickly you can get to your equipment, how long it lasts, and whether transporting the dog is safe — both for the animal and for the crew.
A practical way to solve it
We've developed a module designed specifically for municipal police vehicles. It isn't a universal box — it's designed for the real needs of officers in the field.
What that means in practice: three narrower and two large pull-out drawers that hold equipment in place and can be converted into a dog cage. A removable tray beneath the animal for quick cleaning. The top part of the cage folds open, so loading the dog is more comfortable and safer. And plenty of space on top for tall items, charging cables or other accessories.
The result? A boot that works as a system — not as a storage space for whatever happened to fit in there.
Why it matters to management too
A properly equipped vehicle is an investment that pays off. Less damaged equipment, a longer-lasting interior, faster work in the field. And an officer who doesn't have to deal with chaos in the boot in the middle of a callout.
Our module is available for all types of vehicle and can be adapted to the specific requirements of your force.
